Public square of 1957-62 designed by Geoffrey Jellicoe and established as part of the civic layout of Plymouth. Square with two pools. Trees surrounded by concrete seats in rings supported on tapering legs. Raised flower beds. Triangular grid of concrete and tarmac.
Why is the site at risk? Original design has been eroded. Very little has been done to refurbish the square since 2005 also further unsympathetic additions have been carried out and the landscaping continues to require attention.
